| 'RUBBISH...STRAIGHT BACK TO THE SHOP' | | Strengths: errr...it clamped on the frame | | Weaknesses: Daft cable clamp position, giant inboard guide fouls pivot and still too far outboard | | Overall: Cable clamp - points down and backwards making it impossible to tighten the cable down while the mech is resting on the lower end stop because it points directly at the pivot/chainstay. adjustment is inadequate, this replaced an LX which worked fine until it got slack, but this fouls the chainstay mounted pivoit on the fsr, and still isn't far enough inboard so gets significant clatter and rubbing from the chain in lowest gear. Shimano's new one sive fits all seems like a bad idea. Luckily I was using the largest size so no need for shims but they look cheap and crap. Why given the massively varied designs of frame around nowadays did they move to a single standard (poor) design - the jack of no trades...I am trying to find a 2003 XT one instead. |
