ODI Ruffian Lock-On
Posted: 05/12/03
'BEST GRIPS I'VE EVER BOUGHT'
Strengths:
Easy to attach/remove
No glue/hairspray
Comfortable
And finally "grippy" a definate advantage!
Weaknesses:
Expensive for grips even if you exclude the price of the bolts about £9 for replacement grips.
Overall:
I've had these grips on my bike for a while now and have had no problems with them. The rubber file pattern for the gripping surface is perfect giving you grip but not ripping your hand apart at the same time (unfortunatly this wears down faster than you would possibly expect) while the internal portion is a harder compound to keep the grip in one place on your bar and the right shape! The lock-on clamps are great i have had no horizontal movement in (i.e. off the end of the bar) or by twisting. Some people have said that they have found these grips to be two long with there clamps this has not been a problem for me as they fit my Kore freeride bars (26") perfectly leaving plenty of space for shifters and brakes before the bend. The end plugs which came with mine are a bit large and if i ever get round to it will replace them with some smaller ones, but apart from that no real complaints.

Just in case people wonder a pair of grips with their lock-on clamps and end plugs weigh about 130g.

Kore Race Platform Pedal
Posted: 05/12/03
'Great pedals, look good feel better!'
Strengths:
Strong construction
Replaceable studs
Large platform area
Weaknesses:
Quite heavy at 570g
Overall:
I really like these pedals perhaps its the way they fit in with the rest of my bike? Who knows! What i can say about them is they do the job of transfering power from me to the cranks in wonderful fashion.

The studs are of a good length and i have yet to loose any of them (Kore supply the pedals with five spares). They stick to your feet like glue as well, i hate it when your foot slips and you get that searing pain in your shins as the spikes dig in! Fortunately this hasn't been a problem so far as slipping off the pedals hasn't been a problem!

They feel really big and look it as well their 4x4 inch size coupled with the large amount of surface rather than empty space means they look very big. This i quite like some people may not but its all down to personal preferance in the end after all!
