'SEXY LOOKING!'
Strengths:
Plushness,Lightness, lock out(works well and sure makes a difference when you hit those road sections)Did i mention that they're sexy looking!!
Weaknesses:
Disk only (Cost me another £20 for the v-brake mounts!)Need regular maintenance (only a problem if your a bit of a tool-aphobe!)Bit pricey especially once you've bought the Pace grease and gun and a shockpump.
Overall:
I changed to these forks at the beginning of Dec2003 from My 98 Z1 bams. I noticed that they weren't quite as plush as the Z1's at first but 300 miles in they felt superb. 300 miles in the mud and grime gave them some problems (unsurprisingly) and the forks seemed gritty and sticky. But after consulting pace and the manual a quick clean soon had them back to they're best. The service i gave them was super easy and took an hour at the most, even stopping to check the manual and make sure i was doing it right. During the service i found that a small amount of water had found it's way into one of the legs ( i think the 2004 model has uprated seals which Pace will fit to the 2003 models as an upgrade although i'm not sure of price) I noticed one reviewer said about the dark coating wearing off.I've personally not had any experience of this.If you visit the Pace website there is an article on the reason's why you may experience wear to the 'dark coating' and how you can try to avoid it. Overall, these are fantastic forks, as plush as Z1's but with out the weight penalty. Although they do need a bit of TLC every so often it's not a problem to me as i love a bit of tinkering. If you're after a fit and forget fork though get some Z1's.
