'REALLY POOR RIDE!'
Strengths:
Extereme travel and bump absorbtion good. Adjustabilty etc fine

[Update 02/11/07] Now a good progressive and smooth shock thanks to the supplying dealer stripping down replacing the oil with a higher grade and lubing everything up.

Weaknesses:
Finer ride and movement over small undulations really poor. It vibrates as if the whole head set is loose but it isn't. The dealer calls it "stickshon" I call it disconcerting and currently really crap!Trying to sort this with the dealer as I write. I will update as things progress.
Overall:
Not really impressed. On my previous hard tail I had good quality FST forks which were really smooth. These new Rock shoxs are anything but and it spoils the newly purchased bike (Specialised XC disc)which is really great.

[Update 02/11/07] Now really happy with the fork and it compliments the bike well

'GREAT BIKE BUT MINOR PROBLEMS'
Strengths:
Rides really well with excellent climbing and descent qualities far better than my recent hardtail. Feels really comfortable and safe. Looks good too!

[Update 13/04/08] As before but brakes have now bedded in are really effective.

Weaknesses:
Brakes are poor and no better than my V brakes on the last bike. However, they do work and will do for now. I am also suprised that the Rock shocs do not feel as good as my recent RST set. The very fine movement is really sticky and transmits as a vibration through the fork. I am checking with the retailer re that adjustment and set up. I may have it wrong!

[Update 13/04/08] The Rock shox wrere poor but the reatiler has stripped them down upgraded the oil and lubed verything up.
They now work really well.
The rear shock (X Fusion) was always really difficult to set up in terms of pressure and particularly rebound. I have since upgraded to a Fox Triad as supplied on the 08 Pro version. Wow what a difference! The X Fusion is pants in comparison. The bike now feels 10 times better with the ability to switch form pro pedal on the single track to full suss on the major descents. It works really well

Overall:
Overall I am really pleased with the purchase and feel I have a good bike at the price. Ihandles my 15 stone weight really well on some serious descents and drops giving me more confidence to attack a ride. So much better than a hardtail

[Update 13/04/08] Now a great overall bike with no gripes. Much thanks to Ryan and Bill at The Bike Shed in Exeter. Great service
Still a good overall bike but in retrospect should have spent the extra and not bought a bike at the budget end! The frame is good but the kit on it will need upgrading as you progress
