Strengths: I've commuted on these through central London and rural Bucks for 2 years to the tune of around 5000 miles with NO punctures. A revelation of speed compared to knobblies. Fit and forget; these wear well and just don't puncture.
Weaknesses: Being fussy, they're not as fast as the 1.0 Specialized tyres I had 6 years back, but they puctured all the time and wore way quicker.
Overall: Way fast if you're new to roadie tyes. Extremely puncture resistent. When commuting the last thing you want is a puncture - and these just don't. They could be lighter, but that would probably mean sacrificing wear and puncture resistence. Top qualty.
'Light, bright and British. (surely an oxymoron).'
Strengths: > Easy to fit. > With 'intelligent' charger (extra £20) gives very easy, fuss-free charging. > So bright, you're almost cheating. > It's fun to watch nocturnal insects frying on your 35 watt (over volted to 42!) portable supernova. > Outrageous burn-time. >Easy to use 'Tandy' type switches.
Weaknesses: > Garden shed engineered feel to the zip-tie fixings. > Could have a better logo (hey, I'll do one, some fools even pay me to do that kind of tom-foolery).
Overall: A great, British piece of sensibly priced engineering. I bought a 12w spot, 20w flood and 35w spot to cover all occasions (spare bulbs are only £7) and have not been let down. Much brighter and longer burning than my old BLT explorer from which I pilfered yet another spare bulb. Buy direct from their site - www.lumicycle.co.uk.
Strengths: > Reliable clip-in/out in ALL conditions. > Decent amount of float for creaky kneed folk like me. > Thousands of miles of weather and terrain induced abuse with no complaints. > Confidence inspiring sturdiness.
Weaknesses: > Slightly stiff release (ooh, err - though not nearly as reticent a release as my friend's Speedplay Frogs which failed him recently, pitching him prat-fall style into a hairdressers window).
Overall: > Sturdy, reliable, 'forget-they're-there' product. Better than the Onza HO's I had stolen (nnng) and unreservedly recommended.
