Strengths: This frame is all about the details - true skunkworks. The shock is the business!! Lockout is awesome for tarmac/flatstuff, and the itch switch is perfect. No hopping off like on the ubiquitous Marins!! I will be slapping a Fox remote lever on ASAP, and then I'm a truly happy bunny!!
Looking forward to hittin the trails in Summer!!
Weaknesses: Yup - the BB height, not best suited to my 180mm LPs!! No worries though as the "FlipFlop" link gives you the option to switch the BB height & head-angle.
The drop-out bearings are a bugger to remove and this is quite anooying for a bikebuilder/mech like me!! But at least BETD have produced a compatible bearing puller tool - even specialized UK use them!!
Overall: This is the Billy-Bollox!!
I am a habitual frame swapper (i-Drive, Heckler, two patriots, stinger, RAD JackFlash), and this is one baby I will NOT be thinking about letting go.
True class, true style, true detail.
If you can grab one second hand it'll blow the competion outta the water!!
'YUM, YUM, YUM THESE SHOULD BE AVAILABLE ON THE NHS!!!'
Strengths: 2001 Marzocchi forks...what more can I say. These are super tunable, and the external rebound damping dial is a god-send after my JrT's that you had to take apart to adjust (after buying the required stupidly long 8mm allen key). They are nice'n'tight out of the box, and this is confidence building.....no slopppy seals after a few months ride me thinks : ) They look good, they ride good and they make me feel good!!
Weaknesses: Hmmm...let me think...I honestly can't think of any, apart from the RRP price....but then again I only paid £190 for mine NEW, and they came with the hub and axle HeHeHee!! BARGAIN
Overall: You cannot argue with a spankin new pair of Zocchis on ya frame......These replaced my Y2k Pro-issue JrT QR20s (TeamFord/Kona) and they are just as stiff, more plush, and offer more tunability. I'm a happy chappy!!
I would have given the value rating 5/5 as well, but them I did pay about half-price so that's not really fair. If I was to be paying the RRP, then Its only a 31/2 or 4 out of five
Strengths: Bomb-proof, incredible stopping power in all conditions, Set them up and never think about them, again.
You can have near-disc-like stopping ability with out having to buy new hubs/wheels/.
If ur tempted buy mechanical discs, stop right there...get these instead...its cheaper at about £100 for a complete set, and probably better power than mech discs, which I see as false economy.
Choice of colours, so you can trick up ur bike that little bit more!!
Weaknesses: they are real muthaf*****s to set up, but once done you'll never have to touch them.
Not as much mud clearance as with discs
Overall: Top flight brakes, that will never actually break themselves!!!
