Strengths: Its a good lightweight fork for the price, takes a 180mm roter max, fine for XC use. Postmount is better than IS for disks too. Kind of a matt black paintwork. The damenping is widley adjustable, more than most forks 2x the price, never spikes or clunks.
Weaknesses: Fork is noisy due to the oil of the SSDF inside but I like it, some people won't. Small bump respose not not that brill really. Lockout is from suntour forks so can be a bit cluky, not as smooth as the Turnkey lockout on Darts / Tora's..etc...
Overall: Very good for the price, remember it is a XC fork and should be just used for that. Would buy again. You will need a LOW PRESSURE shock for this fork, mines running at 19psi and im 72kg.
Strengths: My new cranks went on super smoohly and tight and have stayed there on the BB, Its very cheap and spins very well, Its been fitted 6 months this july and has done over 560 miles and still smooth with no craking.
[Update 19/09/08] Right, ive just fitted a UN54, the newer version of this BB, after, beleive it or not, 8,600 miles it has finally worn out! Lots of squaking! But been so long lasting
Weaknesses: It maybe heaiver than other BBs but then its only going to be a few grams so I am not bothered about that at all.
[Update 19/09/08] None
Overall: Its very good for the proce, will prob last me another 6 months to 9. (Maybe 1500- 2000 miles) I dont expect much from it but its been holding up will from jumps and hard peddaling up hills so its fine for me!
[Update 19/09/08] Really really pleased with it, I not cycle 142 miles a week coummeting, in all weathers and just replaced it now before the winter incase it fails in that, 100% faultless for £15!
Strengths: Cheap price, its a very smooth and seems tough. As I write this review, mine has done 110miles on my bike. About 30 off road miles with a couple of 2 footish drops. The Other 80 miles has been road.
Weaknesses: None I have noticed at all.
Overall: Its been fitted 4 weeks today, so thats about 25 miles a week I do on the bike and its running perfecly. The cones are staying nice and tight, the spokes have settles into my rebuilt wheel well. I've been very pleased with it. The freehub seems fine and smooth, its almost silent aswel which I like. I paid £25 + rebuld price for this hub in my old wheel which had a Quando hub which lasted about 2000 miles and was not ever nearly as smooth so I hope this hub doubles that amount of miles to. Serviceing the hub should be easy to do too. I have alot of other deore kit, (mechs, V brakes + levers) and I have always found them to be really good.
Strengths: These are the best pedals I have had to date and im glad I got them insted of the DMR V8s. They are very grippie and have a large area to place your foot on. Sealed Bearings and good and spin really well. They are very strong and the pins are replacable and can be adjusted in height. Silver is prob the best colour to get or else they might looks tatty if the paint gets scracted off.
Weaknesses: None at all, just be careful because the pins are sharp.
Overall: These are great pedals and I think that they are great for all sorts of biking, from Trials to Dijt Jumping, XC, Street and Downhill and Freeride. They are £30 which most people will prob spend on pedals. Well worth the money!
Strengths: This chain is not £££ to buy. Its looks nice on the bike as its almost all silver. Its not broken so it is strong I think.
Weaknesses: After my first ride, I had oiled the chain up and I found that I had a slight bit of rust already on my chain. It had rained a littlw when I was out.
Overall: This chain seems fine, no more rust has formed on it since that time, I have not put a little more oil on it and it seems fine. My only KMC-Z used to be used with very little oil and never went rusty... I still think this chain is a good idea to get. The powerlink is a great idea and my mates have got them and no one has broke one yet. Ive had the chain fitted now for almost 3 months.
Strengths: Good price for the whole lot, black cable looks good and stays black for a longtime.
Weaknesses: none
Overall: I always use these cables and they are always perfect for me. I do replace my cables 2-3 times a year (All 4 - Mechs + Brakes) so I dont know how long they would really last. I ride Singletrack and some dirtjumping, but as I did do some trials the brakes stayed locked really well with the cables.
Strengths: Great Grip. Bearings last a long time. Cheap to replace.
Weaknesses: Not sealed very well, requires greasing every 6 months or so to keep them 100% ok.
Overall: A great pedal for the money and grip is really top stuff! Does let water in after a while but some good greese stops alot of that. They are strong, I have used them for Dirtjumping and jumping steps for the past 2 years!
Strengths: Nice colours, stops mud and water and looks good on the bike.
Weaknesses: lets some water in when it gets very wet and acts a but like a sponge on the bearings, so you have to take it off after really wet rides, not much of a deal really.
Overall: Great for only £2.99 just remember to take it off and let it dry after a very long wet ride.
Strengths: Best fork ive had so far, much better than the RSTs. Great dampening, little fast on jumps drops sometimes. Preload is good and 80mm travel or 100 is aviable, I got 80.
Weaknesses: No rebound adjustments, but its spot on most of the time.
Overall: A gret fork for XC / All mountain use. I use mine for some street and Dirt jumping to but its not designed for that really for that. very good for the money and very little flex. Small bump response is pretty good.
