Eurobike 2007: Cannondale

Cannondale has a long history of turning out eye-catching one-offs for shows. At Eurobike it had the ON, a folding urban bike concept that follows on from the Jacknife of shows past. Plenty of other new stuff too, though...

There were actually two ONs at the show - the other was on the SRAM stand showing off its hub gear. Contrary to expectations, both bikes are actually fully ridable - they're not actually made of balsa wood or fibreglass or something, but proper metal and carbon fibre. The main standout feature is the single-sided "chainstay" which has the chain running inside it.

Left to right Fork is a Righty to aid folding; bijou integrated headlamp is the work of USE; carbon/aluminium seat mast; this bit is theoretically a swivelling hinge, but on the show bikes was solid with a dummy release button.

In the "urban bikes you can actually buy" category is the new Bad Boy street singlespeed.

The big news here is the rigid Lefty fork.

Cannondale's UK pricing looks set to be very aggressive for 2008. We'll bring you the numbers shortly, but be prepared to be surprised how affordable bikes like this Fox forked Prophet will be.

The Hooligan is a 20in-wheeled town bike device intended for nipping through traffic and the like. This one has hub gears.

The Perp freeride bike will come in plain white with a big sheet of stickers in the box to personalise your ride.

Shimano is obviously in an accommodating mood - here's an XTR Lefty hub.

You've already seen the top-line Scalpel 100, but more affordable (although still expensive) models also exist.

Shame that SS Bad Boy has got Juicy brakes and Truvativ cranks on... I'll probably buy one but put most of the parts in the bin
