Fort William gets World Cup DH round

Great news for Scotland from the Bikebiz.co.uk forum. Jon-e from top UK gravity site www.descent-world.co.uk has confirmed that Fort William will be hosting a round of the 2002 World Cup.

The UCI have pulled the plug on the Leysin event, and apparently Mt Arai in Japan is looking doubtful, but that means the 'spare' Downhill and the new '4 Cross' slalom format will be heading for Scotland. We'll bring you more news as soon as we get it.

WooHoo, a round of the W/Cup in britain this year. At last, should bring some attention to the sport, as well as some more money. Gonna have to make the effort to get there for sure!

It's a pity though as Leysin was a good course last year as well. I rode it when i was out in Les Gets in the summer. No W/C round means no course work, and probably no course out there this year. It wasn't well marked two weeks after the W/C, so it'll be dead by next year.
