Steve Peat wins Megavalanche epic

Steve Peat has boosted his next season team negotiations with a victory in the Megavalanche cup.

We can't blame him for leaving Sheffield for the tropical island of Reunion in the Indian Ocean either, especially with courses that take him over 54 minutes to complete! Gravity website Descent-World has the results and a full report. In a nutshell though, it took, legendarily fast, Peat nearly an hour to complete the course only just beating Frenchman Samuel Peridy by 2 seconds.

So next time you're thinking of laying into downhillers for being fat, unfit and lazy think of pedalling a 40lb, at least, downhill monster flat out for nearly an hour. In the meantime we'll be checking out the Reunion holiday brochures. We reckon if it takes Steve that long, it'll probably be a day ride for us!!

So, 54 minutes for Mr Peat, a day for Scoop. I'd better allow a week for me.
