In for a penny, in for a pound

It's a tragic tale for any bike. Lost, or more probably nicked, found by the law and then locked in a shed, spending tearful months waiting for their original owners to run back with open arms to collect them. But now you can give these poor unloved orphans the chance of a new and happy life as the Surrey police are auctioning off their whole pile of them using on line auction service Ebay.

After a tip-off on the forum we found the auction at the police section on ebay. But before you dash off to look for abandoned bargains we should tell you about the slight catch.

You have to buy all of them: That's around 150 but the Police haven't bothered to count them properly. You then have to get them home from Surrey. Oh, and they are described as "poor" in every possible aspect of their condition.

Still if you fancy taking a gamble on salvaging something from the scrapheap then there's only one day of bidding left to go. There've been 20 bids so far and the current bid stands at £550.
