Race Face stuff is deservedly popular, and looks set to carry on being so with the launch of a load of shiny new stuff. The main action is the expansion of the Diabolus range into, well, a range. After all, until now it was just a stem... Like a couple of other manufacturers, Race Face have gone oversized with bars and stems for freeridey looning. The new Diabolus bar has a 31.8mm centre section, leading to a claimed 25% increase in impact strength and double the stiffness of the already stout Riser Bar.
Naturally an oversized bar won't fit in a conventional stem, so there's now a Diabolus ThirtyOneEight stem. Continuing the bike industry's apparent obsession with writing out dimensions in words (see also: OnePointFive), the ThirtyOneEight is essentially the same as the existing rather splendid Diabolus stem but with a bigger bar clamp.
To complete the set, the Diabolus seatpost is billed as "the industry's only true freeride/DH post". Needless to say, it's a pretty beefy item built with straight-wall tubing and a twin rear bolt clamp - no slipping saddles here.
Of course, all of the Diabolus products feature groovy engraved flame graphics...
For those of a more wheels-on-the-ground bent, Race Face has a new carbon bar, the Next Lowriser. It's a 180g, 25in wide, 1in rise item that Race Face claims exceeds the strength of most rivals. By way of a statement of confidence the bar has a lifetime warranty.
More blurb on all this stuff on the Race Face site. It's in stock at UK distributor Silverfish - you can search for a local dealer on their site or call 'em on 01752 313253.
