On-One in one

On-One's bikes (including, but not limited to, the surprisingly-ubiquitous-considering-how-many-there-actually-are-out-there Inbred) are deservedly popular, offering solid, unpretentious performance at very reasonable prices. One drawback has been that you buy them as frames and then build them up yourself.

However, what On-One spokesbloke Brant Richards likes to call its "2005" bikes are shortly to arrive, in all their completely built up, ready to ride glory. They'll be built around exactly the same frames as you're probably familiar with, decked out with a characteristically real-world component spec.

First out of the boxes will be the Inbred singlespeed spec: On-One Superlight rigid fork, On-One saddle, post, bar, stem and grips, FSA headset and BB, Truvativ Stylo SS cranks, Shimano Deore V-brakes, On-One hubs and rims, Panaracer Fire XC Pro tyres, SRAM chain and the all-important 16T freewheel. It'll be available in 14, 16, 18 and 20in sizes at £699, with Fox fork options at TBC more money prices.

There'll be a Deore-equipped geared model soon, along with a fully-built Il Pompino 700C cyclocross/commuter/road thing.

On-One is also looking to extend its dealer network, particularly in the southern area (which from On-One's perspective is everything below Stoke-on-Trent or thereabouts). "We get people emailing about wanting to see our frames all the time," says Richards, "But as we're pretty much northern based, we tend to rely on friendly customers offering people rides on their bikes. It'd be far better to get together with an on-the-ball shop and convert these people over". Interested shops should contact brant@on-one.co.uk.

If only I had one of those lovely Pompinos'. I'd be happy to ride around the southern counties letting people have a try on it and generally trying to get some interest in all the On-One goodies.
I could do the same with an Inbred though I already have one of those and constantly relay its many vitues to any one who gets too near. Ask my riding buddies!
