Pausing only briefly in its apparent goal of opening a bike shop in every town in Britain, Evans Cycles is about to start an intriguing new promotional campaign for the London stores. It's got hold of a couple of German-made four-wheel recumbents (described in somewhat oxymoronic terms as "four-wheel bikes") with whacking great advertsing hoardings on the back. What they haven't got is riders - Evans needs two people to helm the mobile hoardings around the capital, parking at key locations, hand out leaflets and get a reasonable amount of exercise too. As ever, details are at www.evanscycles.com.
Top-notch Canadian clothing brand Sugoi is to become part of Cannondale. The exact terms of the agreement haven't been disclosed, but the two brands will continue to operate independently from their respective headquarters, while combining resources in areas like distribution. We wouldn't anticipate seeing any particular difference from a consumer's viewpoint, except perhaps that Sugoi stuff'll be easier to get hold of, which would be no bad thing. More at www.sugoi.com.
Do you own, or have you ever owned, a Specialized Stumpjumper? If so, you could win a brand new one. To celebrate the imminent 25th Anniversary of the Stumpjumper (originally launched in 1981), Specialized has launched a competition for all Stumpjumper owners past and present. It's looking for stories about Stumpjumper bicycles and their owners to feature in a 25th Anniversary book. Six successful authors will see their story in print, will get a free copy of the book and a Specialized retro jersey, and one of them will get a shiny new bike. You've only got a hundred words to play with, though. You're invited to send words and photos to specialized@stumpjumper.com or submit them via the Specialized website. The deadline is 1 August, so get cracking...
