Looking for an alternative (or a return leg) to the popular Sustrans C2C coast-to-coast route in northern England? You might want to give the Reivers Cycle Route a try. Named after the marauding border clans of the 15th century, the route runs from Tynemouth to Whitehaven, taking in Kielder Forest and nipping into Scotland en route. The 7stanes trails at Newcastleton are about half-way if you need a bit of a singletrack fix. Find out more at www.reivers-guide.co.uk.
It's clearly all happening at Cannondale's clothing (sorry, "apparel") department. Only last week Cannondale announced that it had acquired Canadian clothing brand Sugoi, and now it's announced a global partnership with Italian shoe (um, "athletic footwear") company Diadora. Cannondale will become exclusive distributors for Diadora products in North America and Japan, and the two companies will co-brand cycling shoes for the European market. Keep an eye on www.cannondale.com for details.
