Quest Adventure is a new bike shop on the South coast. Or, more specifically, Worthing - right on the edge of the South Downs and apparently boasting the highest rate of journeys to work by bike in Sussex. Quest aims to satisfy both those markets, with Marin, Scott, Kona and Whyte MTBs and plenty of stuff for commuters, leisure riders and kids too. The shop is headed up by UK bike industry fixture JP Saville - he ran pre-Paligap Kona importers Second Level Sport for 13 years and more recently has helmed Rocky Mountain, Colnago and Ridgeback in the UK. Contact Quest Adventure on 01903 573700 or at www.questadventure.co.uk.

It's musical teams time in the pro XC peloton, with World Cup Champion Christoph Sauser moving from Cannondale to join Liam Killeen and Sabine Spitz at Specialized. Cannondale has taken the opportunity to completely reinvent its XC team, with new sponsor Vredestein. The XC team will be run as a distinct entity from the DH and 4X campaign. Sweden's Fredrik Kessiakoff (fourth overall in the World Cup) heads up the new team. He's joined by Kashi Leuchs from New Zealand and Dane Peter Riis Anderson. Completing the team is Under-23 World Cup Champion Jakob Fuglsang, also from Denmark. And while we're on the subject of Cannondale, there's a new Customer Services number for Cannondale stuff - +41 61 487 9380. Yes, you have to phone Switzerland...

5 November isn't just Guy Fawkes Night, it's also the first Red Bull Road Rage - a frankly alarming-looking road bike downhill race at Tuna Canyon, Malibu, California. The two-mile course has a 2,000ft elevation drop with berms and 120° corners, and Red Bull is threatening 60mph speeds. It's an invitational race, with riders drawn from the worlds of road and mountain biking. The confirmed roadies are Marty Nothstein, David Clinger, Erik Saunders, David McCook, Steve Bauer, Carl Decker, David Richter, Kayle LeoGrande, Eddy Gragus, Devon Vigus, Butch Stinton, Dean Meyer, Pete Lopinto and Sean Watkins. Representing the mountain bikers (and also representing People We've Heard Of) will be Brian Lopes, Eric Carter, Cedric Gracia, Dave Cullinan, Mark Weir, Mike King, Shaums March, Marla Streb, Colin Bailey, Duncan Riffle and Todd Tanner. It'll almost certainly be mental - take a look at www.redbullroadrage.com for more details.

Cotic will be hosting a second Cotic Big Day Out at Sherwood Pines Forest Park, Clipstone, Notts on 12 November 2005 (that's a Saturday, calendar fans). There'll be Cotic Souls to try out, the new titanium Cotic Soda to dribble at, qualified guides from A Quick Release holidays and of course it'll also be a handy social gathering and ride out for existing Cotic owners. There'll be morning and afternoon rides - meet at 9.30am in the BBQ car park. And if you like the Soul so much that you decide to buy one, you'll get 5% off. You just need to register with Cotic by emailing bigdayout@cotic.co.uk.

Be interesting too see who fairs best in the Red Bull Road Rage. Be something of an 'away win' if the MTBers pull it off!
