Trailbreak rides - 7 January 2006

Want the chance to ride somewhere new or with a different bunch of riders? The Evans Cycles Trail Ride this Saturday starts from Bramley and will take in some of the highlights of the North Downs. Three distances will be on offer, up to 33 miles, but beginners will be looked after with a more sedate 15 mile route.

Last time out the ride attracted over 300 people, so this ride will fill up quickly. Online entries will close by the end of Thursday, and entry on the line is also available. There's good car parking and you'll be able to get a good meal when the rides over.

After a short break the Navigator winter series gets going, with the first round on 14 January on the Lambourn Downs. Combining navigational skills with the need for fast legs and good bike handling skills, the Navigators offer a unique challenge for competitive riders.

Adventure Travel and Sports Show - 13-15 January 2006

Coming to Olympia, London, the Adventure Travel and Sports Show will be packed full of holiday ideas for your summer holiday or grand plans for the seasoned traveller. Over 250 travel providers specialising in trips from helicopter rides through the Grand Canyon, exploring the Pyramids or relaxing in a luxury spa, plus much more besides.

There'll also be 100 talks from speakers including Benedict Allen, Rebecca Stephens and George Band, all free, and a drop-in centre will answer any questions about travelling abroad. Tickets are £8 if bought in advance or £10 on the door.

Transrockies - 6-12 August 2006

Unarguably one of the hardest mtb events on the calendar, the Transrockies has nearly sold out since entry forms were available last November. Over 350 competitors from 16 countries will tackle the 600km course, including some of the toughest and most challenging trails in the Southern Canadian Rocky Mountain area.

2005 was the first time in its four-year history that the TransRockies Challenge reached its full capacity of 175 2-person teams and they were treated a week of epic riding and tough Rocky Mountain conditions on a new route.

We're running months ahead of last year's registration,” said TransRockies Event Director Aaron McConnell. “We're really gratified since it tells us that riders are recognizing all the hard work which our staff and volunteers have put into building this race.”

So, find a partner and get signed up.
