Haldon Forest gets summer XC race series

Haldon Forest Park near Exeter not only has new trails, it's got a new summer race series too. The Blazin' Saddles series is being run by local club/development team Smart-Coaching and the four-race series will carry National ranking points.

All categories will be represented, plus there'll be "Sprogs" races for the 5+ year olds. The courses for the main categories will feature 3.5 mile laps, with the course being tweaked for each round to keep things fresh.

Smart's managed to get the support of a bunch of sponsors: The Bike Cellar, Big Peaks, Shred magazine, Freestyle clothing, Plymouth Cycle Scene, Sight Direct/Dirt Racing, Colin Lewis Cycles, personal trainer Mark Wheeler, Simply the Bike, Triple 888 web hosting and, splendidly, Haribo.

The races will all be on Sundays - 28 May, 25 June, 30 July and 3 September. More details, entry forms and on-line entry at www.smart-coaching.co.uk.
