Mick Hannah wins World Cup at Vigo

2006's World Cup rocked and rolled into Vigo in Spain last weekend, with a great result for the British contingent. Mick Hannah, now riding for Cannondale, took the win, despite a heavy wipeout in practice but on race day finished a whole second ahead of second placed Nathan Rennie.

Hannah said after his win: 'I felt great all weekend. Everything fell into place for qualifying and I was pumped to race. During my race run I hit all the corners fluid and perfect. The course was quite technical, but the Judge handled it smooth'.

As for the brits, Steve Peat, in his first outing on the WC circuit in his new colours placed third, with Marc Beaumount and Gee Atherton in 4th and 5th. Dan Atherton placed further down in 21st, Dave Wardell 23rd and Neil Donoghue in 23rd - a good day at the office. Tracy Mosely continued the theme in the women's race by finishing a good couple of seconds ahead of Sabrina Jonnier and Emmeline Ragot. Fellow brit Rachel Atherton finished 5th and Fionn Grifftihs 12th.

On the XC side, Liam Killeen continued his good form, following from his win at the season opening Sea Otter with a third place. He was encouragingly close to the winners though, just 30 seconds adrift of winning Bart Brentjens and Julien Absalon. Oli Beckingsale didn't have as good a day though, settling in 17th at the end of the race.
