We're legendarily bad at remembering birthdays, so it's probably a good job that Cannondale has brought our attention to the fact that it's 35 this year. You won't be surprised to learn that it hasn't been making mountain bikes for all that time. The company started off making trailers - its very first product was the, with hindsight perhaps unfortunately named, Little Bugger trailer in 1971. Cannondale didn't actually make a bike until 1983, with the launch of the ST500 aluminium touring bike. It's a measure of industry developments that an aluminium bike in 1983 was controversial, bordering on scandalous.

Anyway, Cannondale the company is 35, and to celebrate it's running a 35th Anniversary road show around Europe, showing off a bunch of bikes from throughout its history. They'll include mountain bikes that made quite an impact at the time, like the Delta-V, Super-V and Raven, while on the road side there'll be the actual bikes used by Mario Cipollini and Gilberto Simoni.
