Women's ride with SheCycles.com

The next TrailBreak-Evans event is at Wantage on Saturday 19th August 2006 and we hope you'll come and join the SheCycles team for a women's group ride as part of the Evan's trail ride. Bex and the SheCycles.com team will be leading a sociable group ride around the shorter loop and another intermediate paced ride around the standard loop. Come along, bring a friend or two and lets go ride and have fun.

The Evans Cycles Trail Rides are organised and run by team TrailBreak and take place once a month at some great locations around Southern England. The Trail Rides are a great way to get out on your bike, sample some quality trails in amazing locations and meet up with like minded riders. Entry costs vary from £9-10 depending on which route you take (plus a £2 charge to enter on the day), you can download a form and book your place at www.trailbreak.co.uk. There are concessions for riders under 16 years making this a great value day out for all the family.

The routes

Short route - for novice and leisure riders or for the family to enjoy a ride together. Covers 12-15 miles of well marked trails over enjoyable off road terrain. Routes will cover climbs, descents and road sections ... but the harder trails will be avoided where possible.

Medium route - more of a challenge and incorporates up to 22-27 miles of excellent off road terrain. A good test of fitness and a great way to explore a new area. Much of this ride will take in the experts route so we will try to include the best descents available .. and of course the best climbs!

Long route - this tougher long ride extends the medium ride to between 35 and 40 miles. Routes may include tough hill climbs, fast descents and an element of navigation. Ride 40 miles at pace over off road terrain and you can be sure you'll get a great work out. Expect to do a bit of map reading (map provided) and the route will include some excellent descents so there will be plenty of exhilaration to enjoy too.

All routes start and finish at the same point and once you're back at the start/finish area it's time to relax and recharge with some of the world famous chili con carne on offer. The rides are supported by POWERBAR who provide free energy drink for all riders at the start location and at the drink station en route.

Details for Saturday 19th August

Venue: Letcombe Regis Village Hall near Wantage, see map

Time: The main rides start anytime from 9.00am, you can start when you're ready. The SheCycles.com group rides will both depart at 09.45am so we have time to get to say hello first!

Routes: The Standard ride forms the basis of all three routes. The short ride is the standard ride with a cut off part way round. This would enable anyone only taking on the short course to start riding with the whole group on the standard ride until they reach the point where the two rides diverge. And as discussed, if the group spreads out then everyone still has the route markings and their own map to follow. We won't leave anyone behind though!

Dates and locations of the rides for the rest of the year include:

  • 19th August Wantage (The Ridgeway)
  • 30th September Queen Elizabeth Country Park (South Downs)
  • 14th October Gatwick (Evans Cycles HQ)
  • 4th November Bramley (North Downs)
  • 25th November Shackleford (North Downs)
