Eurobike 2006 - Something for the girls

Amongst the huge halls of Eurobike, there was plenty of new bikes and kit for the women cyclists. Here's a few bikes that caught our attention.

Rocky Mountain

Some real nice paintjobs. The range consists of Element, Vertex and the Slayer SXC, pictured below. The Slayer gets carbon seatstays for reduced weight. 153mm of rear travel with 160mm from the Marzocchi All Mountain 1 fork. The Element - 100mm rear travel - also gets carbon seatstays.

Specialized

Specialized can't be accused of lagging behind in offering women riders a complete solution. Their bikes look great.

Santa Cruz

No major changes to the line-up, but the Juliana (like it's big bro the Superlight) gets a re-jigged swingarm. It's now lighter, and offers more mud clearance.

Fusion

A couple of new paintjobs to their existing range. The Strangler is the companys 115mm travel bike.

Endorfin

Yes you can probably imagine there was a lot of pink on display, but the VP-4 from Endorfin took the 'Pinkest Bike' award for us. Lovely.

I'm not usually a defendant of PC rubbish but I can't help thinking that the blatant use of pastel shades (notably pale blue & pink), flowers and other stereotype feminine imagery on women specific MTB's & kit is getting a bit much.

Do any female riders find this a bit patronising or do you genuinely like the girly touch on your kit?
