Evans Trail Break ride - South Downs

ride4

It seems like only yesterday we were at the Wantage Evans TrailBreak Ride, so it was a shock to the legs to be on the South Downs with some steep climbs and fast descents. We (a bunch of women and Dave from BikeMagic.com) headed out to do the Standard ride, aiming to complete the 25mile circuit in time for lunch.

After several stops, a crash involving 3 riders on a steep rutted descent and some muddy sections that sucked at your tyres, we rode home in fine spirits only just in time for lunch. The hilly but fun route deceived us, the hills being longer and steep than they appeared on the map, but the views were certainly worth all the pedalling. But better still you can't beat a good ride with bunch of likeminded and fun-loving girls who love being out on their bikes. Even the short downpour didn't put a dent in the high spirits.

These rides are an excellent way to get out and ride! Just chose the right category for you and follow one of the three waymarked trails.....or come and join us on the Standard length route at a moderate but sociable pace with the SheCycles team. If we have enough interest we can accomodate two groups to offer an alternative pace or route length.

SheCycles.com will be each event so come and join us for a ride or just stop by for a coffee or to say Hello! The women's ride will leave at 9.45 each event and we'll meet by the start line - look out for the SheCycles banner!

If you'd like to come along to the next Evans TrailBreak Ride and would like to join the SheCycles ride then check out the upcoming dates:

  • 14th October Gatwick (Evans Cycles HQ)
  • 4th November Bramley (North Downs)
  • 25th November Shackleford (North Downs)

These trail break rides look good, but having been on the web site all the one day events are based in Surrey. I used to live in West Sussex so they would have been fine. Does anyone know of any Midlands Rides of a similar nature?
