Interbike Report 8

ib06_dangerboy_lo (7K)

There's something of the 70s BMX about Dangerboy's aftermarket Hayes lever blades. Not that that's a bad thing.

ib06_davinci_lo (8K)

DaVinci tandems have a unique transmission that means that both riders don't have to pedal simultaneously.

Van Dessel

ib06_vandesseljerseydevil_l (10K)

Van Dessel makes road, 'cross and mountain bikes, but only 29er mountain bikes. Its Jersey Devil is available in either hardtail...

ib06_vandesseldevilfs_l (10K)

...or 4in travel FS versions. There's also the Ramble Tamble EBB bike for singlespeed or Rohloff use.

ib06_viciousmonolith_lo (11K)

You can always rely on Vicious Cycles for a flamboyant paintjob - this Monolith singlespeed is resplendent in a fine leopardskin "do".

ib06_gtlopes4x_lo (10K)

Be (a bit) like Brian Lopes with GT's 4X factory replica.

WTB

2007 marks WTB's 25th birthday - the component manufacturer has been around since 1982. To mark the occasion, it's got about a bazillion new tyres...

ib06_wtbexiwolf29_lo (7K)

The Weirwolf all-mountain tyre now comes in a 29in version. It's a 2.55in casing, which is certainly on the chunky side for 29er tyres.

ib06_wtbprowlerxt_lo (9K)

Back on normal-sized wheels, the 2.3in Prowler XT is an all-mountain all-rounder with a leaning towards looseness.

ib06_wtbraijin_lo (7K)

The Raijin is apparently named after the Japanese gods of thunder and rain, which gives you an idea of what it's for.

ib06_wtbstout_lo (9K)

The 2.3in Stout is designed for rough, rocky conditions.

ib06_wtbvulpine_lo (8K)

Looking for a race-oriented tyre for hardpack courses? At the time of writing, probably not. But when you are, add the Vulpine to your list.

ib06_wtbtrailwheels_lo (11K)

WTB also has some new wheelsets. The LaserDisc Trail pairing is described as being for "All Mountain Racing", whatever that is. Should be a good, all-round wheelset though. QR or 20mm through-axle front options.

ib06_wtbsingleduty_lo (10K)

For some reason, only the 29in LaserDisc Trail wheels have the option of a Single Duty rear hub. The hub's available on its own, though. There's also a beefy FR wheelset and a lightweight SpeedDisc XC.

ib06_wtbsilverado_lo (9K)

The new Silverado saddle is a special 25th anniversary model. Designed for road and XC racing, it's got a long (274mm) shell and a 210g weight in Ti rail trim.

ib06_wtbdrops_lo (8K)

And a couple of blasts from WTB's past. The curiously-named Mountain Road Drop Bar is a direct descendant of the legendary Dirt Drop - 600mm wide, flared drops, available in 25.4 or 31.8mm clamp diameters.

ib06_wtbpedals_lo (8K)

WTB Momentum Grease Guards used to be the pedal to have. These days they've been relegated to the "City/Comfort" category. Still something of an iconic design, though.

ib06_parknutsetter_lo (10K)

Another one for the tool geeks - Park's new star-fangled nut setting tool has enhanced comfort thanks to a rubbery grip. Also agreeable if your shed's a bit chilly.

ib06_rotorcrank_lo (9K)

Rotor's non-articulated lightweight cranks and cunning self-aligning outboard-bearing bottom bracket.

X-Fusion

ib06_xfusiondh_lo (8K)

X-Fusion is working on broadening its horizons beyond its traditional budget/OE rear shock market. As well as a huge range of air and coil shocks, it's got forks as well. Here's the twin-crown DH one...

ib06_xfusionvelvet_lo (6K)

...and the sleek Velvet single-crown.
