Interbike: Quirkies

ib06_cruiser_lo (5K)

There didn't seem to be quite as many lowriders and choppers at Interbike than in previous years, but "not quite as many" still equates to a lot. It appears that one-piece forged aluminium wheels are big in lowriders at the moment.

ib06_baseball_lo (5K)

Titus's carbon/titanium manufacturing techniques are finding their way into other sporting goods. Here's an Exogrid baseball racket - you can also get Isogrid tennis clubs and golf bats. What do you mean, we don't know much about sport?

ib06_dirtydog_lo (5K)

Dirty Dog moves beyond novelty brake rotors and into novelty stems.

ib06_exposure_lo (2K)

Some Vegas-style bling from Exposure.

ib06_floyd_lo (5K)

Floyd Bikes's fantastic lowrider features full-coverage mudguards that run just 3/8in off the road. Mind the potholes...

ib06_kestrel_lo (3K)

A blast from the past: Back in about 1992 we'd have given at least one limb for a Kestrel MXC.

ib06_ktrak_lo (6K)

This is the Ktrak. It allows you to ride on soft snow, sand or other generally non-rideable surfaces. Not as heavy as it looks.

ib06_lawnmower_lo (3K)

For the mountain biker who has everything, a hybridised BOB trailer and lawnmower.

Motos

ib06_moto_lo (5K)

A couple of things with engines: This one's distinctly retro in a kind of velocette style. Quite funky, we think.

ib06_fxbike_lo (5K)

The FX Bike ultralight MXer is very up to the minute. MTB parts mean it only needs a tiny engine.

ib06_quad_lo (5K)

No, it's not an off-road wheelchair, it's a quad bike with pedals. Possibly not ideal in singletrack...

ib06_pterosail_lo (5K)

...although more suitable than a recumbent trike with a sail on it.

ib06_phatbike_lo (6K)

Phat Bikes had probably the largest range of cruisers, choppers and lowriders on display.

ib06_scooter_lo (5K)

Curious full-suspension scooter device is aimed at the summer ski-area rental market.

ib06_sombrio_lo (5K)

Sombrio's stand featured this attention-grabbing robot thing made entirely from bits of bicycle. See how many you can spot...

ib06_portrait_lo (6K)

Forget photos of your bikes propped up in your garden - what you really want is a proper portrait.
