Bikeproof your SLR

While not technically a bike product, we know that lots of our readers are in the habit of carrying SLR cameras on rides with them. And indeed we often do that ourselves. How to actually go about that is an entertaining conundrum, and one likely to make you decide that, actually, a compact would do the job just fine. But if you have to have your SLR, however you carry it there's still the possibility of damage.

Which is where Camera Armor (it's American, as you may have spotted) comes in. It's a close-fitting, shock-absorbing, flexible silicon rubber "glove" that encapsulates your expensive camera while still letting you get at all the buttons, ports and slots.

There's also an integrated polycarbonate LCD shield to protect the ever-vulnerable screen at the back. And the kit includes a flexible rubber lens hood to ward off any nasties heading for the sticky-out bits at the front.

The overall effect is kind of what you'd expect if Tonka made cameras, but it doesn't look as if it adds a ludicrous amount of bulk. And it's actually quite reasonably priced - at £49.95 (and an even cheaper £39.95 as an introductory offer) there's every chance that it'll pay for itself as soon as you stick last year's camera on ebay...

Obviously you have to have the right Camera Armor for your camera - it's available now to fit Nikon D70s and Canon EOS 30D SLRs, with models for Nikon D200 and D80 and Canon 5D and 400D coming soon. More information from UK importers Kata UK on 01293 823232 (or by email), or visit www.camerarmor.com.
