He needs no introduction. Winner of numerous National titles, the man is a legend. We caught up with him at the recent Revolution track meet, where he was obviously enjoying the wine, food and star-studded line-up of pros putting on a spectacular evening of racing.

How are you doing?

I'm now working for Scott as the technical training guy. We've got some dealers here that have never been in the velodrome before, and this is the ideal opportunity. Plus they get to sit somewhere warm and enjoy some superb racing. Especially to see Dave [Millar], [Gilberto] Simoni, it makes the connection with the Scott thing.

Still racing much?

I'm still racing, doing all the enduro MTB stuff, still doing the cyclo-cross. I'm racing tomorrow in the National race at Leicestershire. I'm going to race next year again. I won the Enduro National MTB Champs, so that kinda keeps me going. I'm enjoying the kind of MTBing now it's endurance based, enjoy doing all the long-distance and Meridas, and some of the non-competitive stuff as well. It's good for [Scott's] market too, especially with the new Spark coming out. So that's quite exciting.

The Spark was an instant hit with the BM crew...

Yeah, it's a very, very nice ride, and I enjoy it. Just to be full-suspension and light, it's like the weight of a hardtail. I'm quite excited.

Scott are really innovating at the moment, with a couple of nice releases in both the road and MTB market?

Yeah when you work for somebody you stand here and talk like that about anything, but I genuinely am excited. It's easy to work for Scott. I do the technical stuff, and when they're at the top of the innovation like that, it makes it easy.

I rode the track as a youngster, junior, and then didn't ride the track for about ten years. Then when they built this velodrome in 1995, I pulled my track bike out and raced from then through to about 2000. I actually haven't ridden on here for about five years. Everytime I come to one of these Revolutions, I always want to get my track bike out again...
