Nuke Proof returns

Many (well, not all that many really, but quite a lot in mountain bike terms) years ago, there was a component brand called Nuke Proof. It made lots of typically-distinctive early-90s bike parts - carbon fibre hubs were a particular speciality. Like many of its contemporaries, Nuke Proof disappeared a while back, but now it's been resurrected. It's products are being distributed in the UK by MTB Distribution (who also deal with Be One, Viper Concept, NC-17, Electra and so on).

The first gizmo to see the light of day is the Shockwave titanium coil spring, just the job if you're anxious to preserve a lovely, plush, coil-sprung suspension feel but drop a bit of weight at the same time. The Ti spring is likely too be about half the weight of a steel one, and is said to work better too - better high-frequency response and longer fatigue life are both touted as benefits.

The internal diameter is 36mm, so it'll fit Fox DHX, 5th Element and Swinger shocks. A range of lengths and rates is available, with prices starting at £119.99. Find out more at www.mtbdistribution.com.
