Taking a well deserved break

Looking for a new challenge this year? Trail Break think they've got the event for you, in the shape of The Wight Diamond Festival over the Spring Bank Holiday - 25-28 May.

With the emphasis on great riding in the day and a lively social scene at night, it features a choice of cycling events over the weekend with an optional leisure ride on the Monday morning.

"The events cater to the full spectrum." says Trail Break's Phil Harrison, "There's two days back to back enduros or the two day Navigator challenge for your full on rides, or shorter rides and single day options if you want to take it a bit easier or you're riding with the family."

The spacious Ninham Country Holidays campsite near Shanklin has plenty of pitches and excellent facilities. The heart of the weekend is the big event centre marquee, featuring a cafe, pig roasts and full bar all weekend, as well as two nights of live music and entertainment and a big prize presentation party on Sunday night.

And if your life includes a non-cycling partner or family and kids, you don't have to worry about wasting a valuable 'weekend pass' to get away for this event; just bring them with you! "Plenty of people come to ride and bring their non cycling partners and children. It works well because there are so many attractions and places to visit within a very short trip of the campsite. It's a beautiful island, with stunning scenery; great for the family and perfect for mountain biking. It may not be big, but it feels big! There's over 250 miles of bridleways and if you've never been there, the size of the hills will take your breath away. Literally".

The Isle of Wight is easy and affordable to get to. The short ferry journey from the south coast is enough to get you in the holiday mood and onto the Island in under an hour. The Wight Diamond is supported by Red Funnel Ferries, meaning that Festival goers can take advantage of some very attractive crossing rates.
