CLIC24 raises money, repairs trails

The organisers of the CLIC24 24-hour charity event are delighted to report that the proceeds from 2007 have exceeded the target. Children's cancer and leukaemia charity CLIC Sargent currently stands to benefit to the tune of £44,000, and there's still money coming in. CLIC24's Neil Wilkins tells us that the event may bring in as much as £50,000 if everyone who hasn't yet sent in their sponsorship money does so.

With that dealt with, there's the little matter of mending the trails upon which the event runs. The CLIC organisers have been given permission to carry out trail maintenance on the Limestone Link section (which CLIC attendees will know as "the deep puddly bit") with the objective of returning it to its former singletrack glory and making it robust enough to stay that way year-round.

Two dates have been set, with more to come. The first session will be on Friday 27 July from 12 noon to 3pm and the second on Sunday 5 August from 10am to 1pm. All volunteers are welcome - meet at Burrington Combe top car park with a spade, shovel or (if you're a collector of specialist trail tools) McLeod or Pulaski.

Technically it's a McLeod, though it is pronounced McCloud.
