Beaumont and Moseley take National DH titles

Marc Beaumont and Tracy Moseley are the new senior National Downhill Champions. Or rather, not that new - both staged successful defences of their 2006 titles. It certainly wasn't a foregone conclusion, though. The Rheola course is a tester at the best of times, and this being the UK in 2007 it chucked it down before Sunday's finals.

Fastest qualifier in the men's race was Neil Donoghue, but it was very bad news for Steve Peat. He crashed in his qualifying run and broke his ankle. With the World Championships at Fort William just a matter of weeks away, that's not a good thing. We're sure that Steve will do everything he can to be there, though.

In the finals, Donoghue was shaping up to be fastest too, but his MBUK/Santa Cruz team-mate Beaumont overhauled him on the lower section of the course to take the win by just over two seconds.

No huge surprises in the women's race, with Tracy Moseley beating out Helen Gaskell for the title, with Fionn Griffiths in third.
