Summer may be late this year, but there's still time to end your biking season in style. Trail Break's Lemming Trail South Downs Way epic takes place over the weekend of September 1-2nd, and there are still places available.
The South Downs Way is one of those rites of passage for British mountain bikers, but riding any trail with start and finish points separated by 100 miles makes for some complex planning.
Which is where the Lemming comes in. First run in 1996, the concept is simple; take all the logistical headaches out of this classic ride, leaving you to concentrate purely on your riding. "The two day format makes it as much about the social aspect as the endurance challenge." says Trail Break's Martin Harrison, "the Saturday night stopover and barbecue at Truleigh Hill is a great way to unwind and relax for the next day's riding."
The event package certainly covers all the bases. Comprehensive route marking, SportIdent ride timing, luggage transportation, support stations on route, overnight accommodation, evening meal and breakfast, and an event t shirt are all included, and optional return coach transport and lunch packages are available.

I have just completed the SDW (1st & 2nd Sept 07) with the assistance from Trail Break, and the events are very well organised and put together. The SDW is a tough weekend, but certainly one for the "must do list".
This was my third year and I wanted to put in a good time, but due to factors beyond my control, it was not to be this year; may be next.
