Eurobike: Clothing part one

It wasn't all carbon and silly light bikes at Eurobike - some of the most exciting developments are happening in the clothing sector. We dodged the infamously noisy and out-of-sync fashion show to check out what all the major clothing brands will be filling the clothing racks with next year.

Endura

Endura's new (and receiver of a Eurobike gong) Stealth soft shell jacket makes use of ultrasonic welding to seamlessly allow the use of different materials - soft shell fabric combines with stretchier Entrant fabric on the collar, under the arms and down the side for a better fit. We tried one on and it's a close fitting garment but articulation is good - we'll get one in to test soon.

Dakine

The Step-Up glove is a new lightweight and minimally padded glove which complements the more rugged offerings in the Dakine range. Made from a breathable nylon with a mesh back panel, Durafuse leather, a Clarino palm and large Terry sections, with a stretchy cuff as opposed to a Velcro closure and five sizes in four colours. Elsewhere, there's daring new colours for the bags.

Camelbak

Continuing the evolution (or is that devolution?) into traditional water bottles, is the Podium Bottle. Unlike the flip-up/flip-down design of the Classic bottle, the Podium employs a simpler twist mechanism. Two sizes, 620 and 710ml, and three colours will be available.

But ensuring the company continue to remain at the forefront of hydration pack developments, the new HOSS is the first pack to make use of the company's new DVIS Back Panel. Six articulated and spring loaded pads spread the weight of the bag across the rider's back. The other benefit is the cavity that is created for increased airflow leading, hopefully, to a less sweaty back. Initially only available in the £110 HOSS 25L pack with a roll-top closure, fully expect the feature to be expanded to other bags in the company's range in good time.
