Coed y Brenin is to host the Mawddach Gold Rush on 9 March 2008. Organised by the newly formed Mawddach Rotary Club, the event aims to raise money for several charities.

With the help of the Forestry Commission, UK Results and Tri-coaching UK for timing, marshalling and online registration, riders will aim to complete three laps of the Tarw trail (previously the Red Bull trail), about 60km all in.

"Simply by taking part in the event,” Vicki Hawes, of the Mawddach Rotary Club says, “riders will be helping to raise money for charities and local good causes, including the Institute for Cancer Research and the Wales Air Ambulance.”

And for every rider that takes part there's the added opportunity to claim a mystery bounty hidden on the Mawddach Gold Rush map. Entrants simply need pick a plot of land in the Mawddach gold belt to bag themselves the star prize.
