Innovations in the field of water bottles are few and far between. The last attempt we can recall to reengineer the humble bottle was Giro's ill-fated Bottle Rocket, a three-piece screw-together bottle that let you mix and match colours to your heart's content but that, to the surprise of no-one, leaked. But now Elite has stepped up and appears to have come up with something that's actually useful - a highly insulated, but still squeezable bottle.

Elite's Nanogelite bottle uses Nanogel insulation to keep hot fluids hot or cold ones cold (insert ancient "how does it know?" joke here) for up to four hours. There's presumably some sort of standard thresholds for "hot" and "cold" that are used to measure this, but we digress.

There's no doubt that cool drinks on a hot day are a huge bonus, and although we're not sure what sort of hot drinks you'd put in there we can certainly see the benefit of merely lukewarm ones on cold days - grabbing a mouthful of icy water on a cold day isn't pleasant, even assuming that it remains in liquid form sufficiently to get out of the bottle.
