We've got a few more details of the 2009 Magura products espied by BM correspondent Dan Barham at Sea Otter. The MX "bellows" air shock had already been announced, although the one pictured is much closer to a production unit than the early publicity shots. It uses a flexible air bladder rather than a conventional sleeve, and Magura promise easy setup, zero maintenance and "superb plushness for ultimate ridevergnügen". That's "ride pleasure", according to our ancient German/English dictionary. You know what they're getting at.

The MX will come in 165x38, 190x50 and 200x50 dimensions, with weights from 195g upwards. Look out for them in the shops from late summer.

We think that the most interesting of Magura's latest clutch of products is the Thor. It's a 140/100mm all-mountain fork with a Maxle 20mm through-axle setup, which gives it the air of a pocket Wotan. Travel is adjustable using Magura's Flight Control Remote lever, and the Albert Select+ damping system features a switchable and adjustable platform damper. 32mm stanchions, Magura's trademark double fork brace and the 20mm axle keep it all stiff.

There'll also be an option of Magura's own lightweight Maxle-style axle, saving 60g over the SRAM item. Brake mounts on the Thor are post mount - directly mounting the caliper to the fork with no adaptors will put it in the right place for a 180mm rotor. Claimed weight (not including the axle) is 1,785g (3.9lb). Again, look out for it in late summer. With RockShox's 2009 Revelation going to 140mm travel with a lightweight Maxle option, and Fox running 15mm through-axles on some forks, there's going to be stiff competition in this corner of the market.

Finally, to go with Magura's current white/red colour theme, there's a new version of the Marta disc brake. Pictured is the Marta SL Magnesium, with lever body and caliper made of the lightweight metal. Of course, there's also the now de rigeur carbon fibre lever blade. Magura has upped the oil volume in the Marta for more consistent performance under demanding conditions, and you also get Easy Bleed Technology for convenient bleeding (if you ever need to - the Marta has Magura's five-year no-leak guarantee).

THe usual selection of 160, 180 or 203mm rotors will be available, with weights starting at 297g for a 160mm rotor and direct-mount caliper (no adaptor). If the SL Magnesium is a bit spendy, there'll also be a Marta SL with aluminium lever body and caliper but retaining the carbon lever blade, and an entry-level all-aluminium version. You'll have to wait until the end of October to get your hands on these.
