White OnZa Porcs experience inflation

ebay_porc_149ukp_lo (12K)

Back in July 2005 we reported on the impressive sum of £122 paid for a pair of tyres on eBay. The tyres in question were white OnZa Porcupines - as we commented at the time, the super-soft tread on these early-90s specials really didn't last very long at all, so unused ones are much sought-after by the ever-growing numbers of retro fanatics.

Which brings us to today, two and a half years on, and clearly in the grip of a degree of old-tyre inflation, and not the kind you need a pump for. This set of white Porcs has just sold on eBay for €190, or a whisker under £150. Which must be some kind of record...

Thanks due to the eBaywatch bit of utterly splendid old-bike forum Retrobike where we spotted this...
