e.thirteen Staccato 8 pedals

You'd imagine that there wasn't much scope for innovation in the humble flat pedal, but "innovation" is clearly one of Dave Weagle's middle names. The e.thirteen (and DW-Link) supremo has come up with the Staccato 8 pedals, the results of several years of development and much honing and tweaking, with input from many of the world's top riders.

The pedals feature a low 17mm profile body built around two removable impact resistant pedal platforms sandwiching a high-strength aluminium core. Bearing issues have been neatly sidestepped by the inclusion of a new (patent pending) bearingless axle system, reducing weight and assembly time and avoiding the potential for the bodies separating from the spindles. It's all user-serviceable and, uniquely, the pedal spin rate is adjustable - keep them spinny for riding around, slow them down for those no-footers that you're determined to learn this year.

Titanium axles and magnesium bodies keep weight to 450g. The platforms feature an anatomic concave shape and are available in a choice of sizes and with different length of pins.

Expect availability sometime this Autumn, with the price TBC. More info at www.silverfish-uk.com.
