Tektro have long been doing the 'good performance at a reasonable price' thing for years, but the release of the new Auriga Pro looks set to raise their sights a little higher.

On first inspection the brake lever units don't look too dissimilar to the current trend for placing the reservoir between the bar clamp and the lever blade, the benefit being a compact design that doesn't hog all your handlebar real estate. Lever and bracket are forged from aluminium and the lever blade is designed for two-finger braking.

The Auriga Pro's are an open system and the minute twin-piston calliper is made from forged aluminium and features automatic calliper positioning. Tektro have designed the 160mm rotors with a “polygon air flow” design, which should disperse heat quickly.

They're competitive on weight when compared to other systems, with the front set a claimed 292g and the rear 311g. Price TBC...
