Aston Hill Bombhole Challenge

Aston Hill

It's all go at Aston Hill in Buckinghamshire since the official reopening recently, and one of the venues time-honoured events is back, with the Bombhole Challenge going ahead on Sunday 10 August.

The event consists of racing two timed laps (one short, one even shorter), around the Bombholes of Aston Hill, with each rider taking it in turn to race against the clock.

The event is suitable for all ages, skill levels and rider types and promises to be “a great event to bring along riding buddies who would never normally visit Aston Hill.”

Next up is the team relay, with two teams of four riders lining up and each rider completing a lap against his opposing rival before handing over to the next rider. Sharpen your elbows. Tactical use of the “one short lap” can decide who wins and who loses.

There'll be prizes for the top three riders in each category and prizes for the relay event, plus a bonus prize for the best crash of the day.

Here's the word from the organisers for those planning to attend: “The first timed runs will start at 1.00pm so we need everyone participating to be up at the Hill registering no later than 12.30. Normal "gate" fees will apply and to enter the challenge there is small additional charge of £3.00. This means that if your feeling fit you can ride the hill and charge round the Bombholes.

“The £3.00 entitles you to 2 timed runs around the bombholes plus entry into the 4 man relay racing. If you do not have a 4 man team already sorted don't worry. Usually they get formed on the day. For those that have the energy and may feel they did not do as well as they could have on the 2 solo timed runs, you can do one extra run for a further £1.00.”
