Eurobike 2008: Report 2

eurobike_banner (18K)

Another couple of hours and I've progressed a bit further into the hugeness that is Eurobike. But judging by the map, I've actually made very little progress. So how come my feet hurt so much already? Anyhow, here's the latest pics to splurge from my camera and into html.

euro08-magura-durin-lo

This is the new Magura Durin Marathon, which gets adjustable travel - 80-120mm on tap - and it weighs 1,585g.

euro08-magura-marta-lev-lo

The Marta range of brakes have been overhauled, with three versions to suit different price points

euro08-magura-marta-cal-lo

This is the lightest, the SL Magnesium, which weighs a scant 295g. Meanwhile the Marta SL weighs 335g and the entry-level Marta 340g.

euro08-nicolai-girder-lo

I could devote a ton of space to talking about Nicolai, but I'd probably run out of space. Girders ahoy in this frame

euro08-hotchilli-lo

One brand you can rely on to pull something whacky out of the box is Hot Chilli. This Elmoto didn't disappoint

euro08-vario-ss-side-lo

Vario is targeting the slope style scene with this, the SlopeCore. Aluminium front triangle with a 4130 steel swingarm rotating around a pivot located just above the bottom bracket.

euro08-vario-diablo-lo

From one end of the of the spectrum to the other, the Diablo Race is an out-and-out XC race bike, with an integrated seat mast

euro08-vario-orok-lo

And fitting in somewhere between, the Orok is one of three models based around the same suspension layout. Travel starts at 100mm, moving to 130mm and 160mm

euro08-acros-headset-lo

Acros had a huge cabinet filled with headsets and hubs of just about any colour you can imagine. Ceramic bearings are gaining pace

euro08-bogroll-lo

Not strictly a MTB product, but how cool is this bog roll holder. Yes I want one too...

euro08-tune-lo

Tune make all sorts of desirable kit, and have added this 38g Rohloff shifter collar

euro08-absalon-lo

Julien Absalon's gold medal winning bike

Amazed to see Vario still going but quite chuffed. Liking the Diablo - I couldn't buy one because of the '666' on the headtube though. I'd be laughing too hard to ride it properly.

Somebody really needs to take the marker pens away from the Hot Chilli designers - have they not learned yet that sniffing and designing bikes never ends well?

Durins: Want.
