Cycle 2008

London's Cycle Show is at Earl's Court from 10-12 October. Thursday was trade day, so we took a lightning dash around the aisles to see what's what. Here's the by-no-means comprehensive results - there're big bits of show we haven't got to yet, but if you're thinking of paying a visit this may whet your appetite...

cycle08_bh_lo (18K)

BH bikes are new to the UK

cycle08_charge_lo (16K)

Charge has this super-shiny chrom Duster 8

cycle08_condor_lo (20K)

Condor is mostly about road bikes, but this team spec 'crosser is pretty tidy

cycle08_exposure_lo (21K)

Exposure Lights won an industry award - cheesy photos all round!

cycle08_hope_1_lo (13K)

Hope has lopped the front off its Vision One and added an external battery pack and headstrap to make a high-power headtorch - just the job for adventure races

cycle08_hope_2_lo (15K)

Hope has also got one of its CNC milling machines on its stand so you can see exactly how all those aluminium bits get made

cycle08_hpv_1_lo (12K)

We might be about MTBs here, but you can't beat a faired recumbent for catching attention

cycle08_hpv_2_lo (16K)

Or, come to that, an unfaired super-low carbon fibre one...

cycle08_ktm_1_lo (16K)

Famous motorbike brand KTM now has a decent-looking range of bikes

cycle08_magura_1_lo (20K)

Custom graphics from Magura, with World Champs stripes on forks...

cycle08_magura_2_lo (10K)

...and Marta SL reservoir caps. There'll be 150 of these brakes available worldwide

cycle08_moulton_lo (20K)

London-style fixie style comes to Moulton. It's a bit of a cheat, though - there's a Schlumpf two-speed box hidden in the cranks...

cycle08_pivot_lo (18K)

Also freshly arrived in the UK are Pivot's DW-Link bikes

cycle08_protect_lo (13K)

An end to domestic bike-theft misery with Protect-a-Cycle's heavy-duty store

cycle08_qoroz_lo (16K)

New Ti-only brand Qoroz seen in the metal for the first time

cycle08_raleigh_lo (17K)

It's been a while since Raleigh's had a convincing high-end bike, but the new aluminium and carbon fibre M-Trax models look good

cycle08_satmap_lo (19K) Satmap is launching its outdoor-specific, OS-map displaying handheld GPS (and associated online route planning software) into the bike market
cycle08_singular_lo (18K)

29er microbrand Singular has a couple of new models, including the very pretty titanium Peregrine

cycle08_titus_lo (20K)

And while we're doing big wheels, here's Titus's steel/carbon fibre Exogrid Fireline, which will take much bigger tyres than this...

cycle08_univega_lo (14K)

Univega is making a return to the UK with an extensive range of bikes

cycle08_vannicholas_lo (17K)

Van Nicholas's UK-themed Mamtor. Shouldn't that be two words?

cycle08_vertebrate_lo (18K)

This slightly manic-looking chap is John from Vertebrate Publishing, proudly showing off the company's latest book - a guide to all of the UK's trail centres

Isn't that Univega just a Diamondback Mission? I assume the Univega name is being used so as not to tread on the toes of DB uk?
