Magura recalls Durin Race forks

magura08_durin_recall_3_lo (12K)

Magura has announced a product recall affecting the first production batch of its otherwise rather excellent Durin Race fork. A small number of forks have failed at the front arch - given Magura's dual-arch design, that's not in itself catastrophic, but if the front one breaks then the rear one won't hold up by itself for all that long.

The recall affects both 80 and 100mm travel forks (labelled MD80R or MD100R) in both disc-only and V-brake compatible versions. It's only applicable to early Race forks, though - Durin Marathon or SL forks are not affected.

Magura has set up a page on its website that will check the serial number of your Durin Race and advise you accordingly. If your serial number's gone AWOL (it's on a sticker, so this is entirely possible), it'll tell you how to identify faulty forks by the shape of the front brake arch and what to do next. The relevant page is at www.magura.com/recall.

Needless to say (but we're going to say it anyway), if you've got a Durin Race, don't use it until you've checked it out...
