The Alltrax sponsored Stinger Adventure Duathlon returns to Newnham Park, Plymouth, on 15 February, with a 5km run, 20km MTB section and a final 3km run.

The event starts with 5km of running on “fairly undemanding trails in the Newnham Deer Park, with a bit of incline and a couple of river crossings thrown in,” says organiser Martyn Salt. Then it's four laps of a 5km circuit taking in some of the parks most popular trails, and then it's back on with the trainers (though wellies might be more suitable) for the final sting in the tail, a gruelling 3km run through bogs, rivers and mud.

If doing the running and biking all sounds a bit much for you, then you can enter as a pair and split the running and biking duties.

All finishers will receive a souviener mug and there are prizes for the top three in each category.
