Kona Bikefests 2009

Kona Bikefests 2009 Kona Bikefests 2009

In 2009 the Kona Bristol Bikefest will return once more to the fantastic course in Ashton Court, Bristol on 6/7 June.

The almost 10km loop is loaded with some of the sweetest for the 12-hour team/solo endurance race on Saturday and will be back the day after with the 6-hour team/solo event and the newly added 3-hour 'novice' event. Following on from the successful introduction of the 3-hour event at the 2008 Kona Cheddar Bikefest we decided to add the same concept to the Bristol round.

Both days are aimed at the experienced rider as well as the newcomer. On Saturday there's solo, pairs and teams of four categories. The Sunday race will have the same categories. All team sizes can be entered in the team open, team 'old gits' (average age of riders needs to be 40+ years) or single speed category. There are obviously mixed teams and pairs in the running as well. Besides that the 3-hour novice event will have teams of 2-4 and a solo category.

Besides the race action there will also be a great musical line-up, with live music on Saturday night and DJ running from early evening late into the night on Friday and Saturday. On top of that there will be an extended food village and a colourful event village with a broad selection of the latest bikes and kit.

After years of trying to find a workable solution to the lack of showers, bike washing facilities and running water we are happy to announce that the 2009 event will feature all of the above. There is also more camping space available, however camping space is still limited so we suggest to enter early.

The Kona Cheddar Bikefest takes place on 12/13 September at Broadway House Caravan park. Over 1,000 riders took part in the successful second helping of the new Kona Cheddar Bikefest and enjoyed the reworked course, the great trail conditions, the fantastic camping facilities and the typical relaxed atmosphere.

We're currently working on a rather substantial extension of the course which will hopefully fall in place for the Sunday races. But no need to worry the basic structure and all the 'traditional' Cheddar bits will stay in place but hopefully get a few additions as well.

Saturday will have a 10-hour event with 5-hour and-3 hour 'novice' events following on Sunday. On Saturday we will have solo, pairs and teams of four categories. The Sunday race will have the same categories. All team sizes can be entered in the team open, team 'old gits' (average age of riders needs to be 40+ years) or single speed category (please note - no single speed category on Sunday). There are mixed teams and pairs in the running as well. Besides that the 3-hour novice event will have teams of 2-4 and a solo category.

Bikefest Loyalty Gift

And finally, as in the last two years, we will be awarding all the keen riders out there with the Bikefest Loyalty gift worth more then £25. You are entitled to the gift if you enter the Kona Bristol Bikefest and the Kona Cheddar Bikefest or if you enter two races at either events.
