Strengths: Lots of great descents especially “evermore”. The rocks !! An excellent mix of riding. The guides
Weaknesses: The rocks !!
Overall: Wasn’t sure what to expect but this certainly exceeded expectations ! Lots of excellent riding with a bit of everything, from fast flowing descents, to tight and technical ones. Some of the climbs are hard and long…. but the views and descents are worth the pain ! I found the riding to be challenging and demanding and certainly pushed me to the limits. A thoroughly enjoyable experience
All of this finished of with a beer or two with tapas
Strengths: Cave dwelling (MUCH better than you'd imagine). Routes and riding truly awesome. Friendly, flexible and totally clued up hosts.Staggering scenery. Affordable.
Weaknesses: Soon everyone will know about Ride Sierra Nevada. 'Climb-shy need not apply'- no chair-lifts! (this is actually very rewarding and not really a weakness at all)
Overall: We're still wistfully reminiscing about this trip the best part of a year later! (sorry about slow review folks, we weren't trying to keep you a secret, honest....we've...been...in a coma!, yes that's it, a coma. Anyone considering this part of Spain, and 'Ride Sierra' in particular should just book it now as I can't imagine a better place/company to go to/with. Take a hip-flask filled with fine Malt for the summits.
Strengths: Breathtaking trails in the beautiful Sierra Nevada.
Weaknesses: The trails will test your fitness and technical ability - be prepared! Ensure you are flexible about timings - it is Spain after all, and you are on holliday!
Overall: A great company run by friendly and professional people who succeed in delivering a personal service. The trails are absolutely awesome and will quite literaly take your breath away (especially if your fitness is lacking)!
Shaun is a excellent both as a guide on the trail and when sharing a well earned beer in the cafe! Be aware of trying to keep up with him on the down-hill sections, I ended up in A&E!!! To the company's credit, Shaun drove me to the hospital in Granada and even worked as an interpreter! This was an example of how the company go above and beyond what you would expect from a mountain biking company.
Csilla's home made sandwiches are legendary! I don't know what the seceret is, but there were several comments along the lines of 'this is the best sandwich I have ever had'!
On a serious note, if you are thinking of riding in the Sierra Nevada, the fitter you are, the more you will enjoy the trails as the days are quite long and will tax you physically and mentally.
Strengths: Sean and Csilla make sure you'll have a great MTB riding holiday . The terrain and riding are incredible , breathtaking views ( and climbs ! ) and downhill routes which will see your biking skills improve thru your stay . Sean guides your day in a relaxed and informative way ,no macho nonsence and helets you know what might be lurking around the bend . Will keep all standards of riders happy thru' their ride .The trails are hugely variable and you'll get a bit of everything . If you want a change of scene then a ride to Granada to see the sights and do some Italian-job style riding down alleys and steps makes for a great day as well as seeing the spectacular historic sites . You get a real feel for being in Spain , authentic tapas food , and colourful rural life including meeting the odd cowboy on horseback on the trails . Sean will soon have some fantastic new villa accommodation but for now you can choose to live in a cave residence with a Flamenco dancer as your neighbour ! For sustenance on your daily rides you can look forward to Csilla's amazing rolls , different everyday and always delicious ( and usually eaten to a speclacular view ) Enjoy !
Weaknesses: None
Overall: First rate , there can be only one company to see the Sierra Nevada on a MTB
Strengths: Fantastic trails, relaxed attitude, great location
Weaknesses: Absoulutely none!
Overall: This was our first mtb holiday, and Shaun immediately tuned into our abilities and needs. Brought us on trails that stretched us in the best way, whilst not overcooking us at the same time. Awesome singletrack, (up and down!)stunning views and great tips from Shaun. We all came back 100% better riders. And as for those sambos! Its all been said before.......Definitely be back!
Strengths: Stunning trails for all skill levels. Expert guiding. Great trail food.
Weaknesses: Can't think of any.
Overall: We spent 5 days riding some of the best trails in the world. Our guide Shaun quickly found our level on day 1 and kept us at our limits all week. His has a calm, understated style which really inspires confidence and we learned loads just by watching him ride. Csilla made really impressive sambos for the trails every day and boy were we grateful! Shaun and Csilla have something really special here. I want to go back ASAP.
Strengths: Beautiful mountains, comfortable accomodation, great rides. Shaun's a fantastic guide, he knows every trail around and tailored the rides well to satisfy all fitness/skill levels. Good blend of technical, fast flowing downs and some nice climbs. Best bikes ive rented on holidays. Well looked after.
Weaknesses: None
Overall: Something for everyone. Well worth it. Be prepared for all weather including snow, rain and sun.
Strengths: Fabulous variety of trails expertly led by the laid back guide Shaun. RSN has a great operation. Every day was different riding with different terrain and challenges. Shaun is skilled at enabling riders of different ability to get the most of what is a special place to ride.
Weaknesses: None that I saw
Overall: Epic rides and location. I've been on a guided trip to the area before but this beat the competition hands down.
