Strengths: For a system that gives a high output it is very compact with the ballast and starter built into the head unit. The battery which lasts for 4 hours is very light weight.
Supplied with intelligent charger which should mean the battery will last longer
The quick release system for the handle bar mounts makes it easy to swap.
The beam has a focused centre which projects far into the distance as well as having a dimmer wide wash which goes out to the extreme edges of your normal vision.
Weaknesses: Not sure how sturdy and reliable the Surluk connectors will be over time.
The head unit cannot be swivelled and is in a fixed position.
Does not come with a very long length of cable, though extension cables can be bought as an extra.
While it is expensive the confidence it gives me when cycling down unlit country lanes makes it worthwhile.
Overall: I use this system every day on my commute to and from work, as well as off-road at the weekends and it provides all the light I could possibly need.
Most of my commute ride is along unlit country lanes. Cars coming the opposite way actually pull over, stop and flash me on. The lane is wide enough for a car and bike therefore they must think I am another car.
