Strengths: Great frame and Deore components EVERYWHERE. A surprisingly light bike too, lighter than my Rockhopper Disc which cost more than twice as much.
Weaknesses: Pedals - too small and not very grippy.
Overall: Even at the full RRP of £400 this was a very well specced bike. They're literally giving them away now!
Strengths: Nice frame with all possible brake mounts, mudguard points, cable routes already on it. I've already upgraded to a set of Hope Minis and am well chuffed! The disc brake mounts didn't need facing, and the general component level is good.
Weaknesses: Integrated brake/gear levers means that upgrading to hydraulics means replacing the shifters (I got XT). The front derailleur has dumped me on the tarmac a couple of times though.
Overall: Good value bike, especially if you are starting out on mtb. Good upgrade possibilites means that you shouldn't have to fork out for a new frame until you want to go lighter.
Strengths: Fairly light in weight, well built and finished, cane creek brakes (not disc) are powerful, nice frame with square to round tubing, good grippy tyres and other useful points, eg front crud screws - all add up to an excellent package esp for someone fairly new to mtb
Weaknesses: None really other than the pedals which aren't very grippy - easy changed though
Overall: Excellent bike for the money, gives you confidence, can handle the rough with the smooth, highly recommend it, bought it from great new shop in Kilmaurs, Ayrshire http://www.walkerscycling.co.uk
Strengths: Didnt break the bank! handles well in all weather up to now including: up/down muddy/stoney hills; woodlands; all kinds of bridleways.Just nice amount of 'twitchin' on more scary muddy downhills. Disc break ready. Cleans a treat. Light. comfortable. great looking. gear changing has been superb so far. Looks great. Can get it for less than the £400 tag e.g. www.bikecare.co.uk
Weaknesses: Needed to change peddles. I've not managed to fathom out how to adjust the Cane Creek direct curve breaks without making it difficult to remove front wheel. Struggling to think of any real weakness to be honest
Overall: Very impressive; and it's British.Suprised I've not seen anyone else riding one?? I guess folk think that £££'s as to mean 'Quality'. I Love cleaning it too, it scrubs up a treat. Congrats and thanks to Claude Butler..the Cape Wrath is answer to prayers
Strengths: British, Lightweight, Excellent components real value for money handles well on the rough stuff.
Weaknesses: Only the pedals really but I can live with them until I decide to upgrade them can’t find anything else.
Overall: Highly recommend as like me it’s my first real MTB. I chose mine after reading the review about it the Cape Wrath was up against a Specialized bike as well so that says something about the quality.
Strengths: Decent gears, light strong frame, not a bad wheel package. Handles well and goes where you tell it to go straight away. Brakes "on a sixpence" given they're not discs!
Weaknesses: Front wheel had several loose spokes after the first ride (fixed by LBS), not much room between bars and brakes for a bloke with big hands.
Overall: Well worth the £400 and you get a great bike for the money
Strengths: Good quality components, all the right mounts for future upgrades, makes me feel 14 yrs old again. Walked in the shop nearly as green as grass and came out with a gem, all for £329.
Weaknesses: Pedals, the TIOGA tyres good grip but loads of punctures.
Overall: Chuffed to bits
