Strengths: Reliable Shimano shifting, and stopping power, what else?
Weaknesses: Looks too clunky and heavy to me, and doesn't shift as precisely as rapidfire. Also, its another thing from shimano trying to dominate the market, so please don't - Hope brakes are just so much better, and stop better than XT, so buy rapidfire, or SRAM.
Overall: Make Shimano realise their strength is rapidfire, and bin the Dual Control-take over the market idea.
Strengths: The best thing about these are the fact that you can brake and change at the same time. It only took me a few miles to get used to these (to start with it feels like driving a LH drive car)and now it feels as natural as rapid fire. They also free up alot of room on the bar and give the bike a cleaner look.
Weaknesses: If you have small weak hands the LH front changer may be a bit anoying. Shimano is not for everyone and this system works best if you use all shimano - Dual control, XT disks, XT wheels, XT mechs
Overall: Set them up well and they will be as good as your rapid fire's. I have the one's for the new XT disks which are fantastic! If its time for a change don't be afraid, i remember the thumb shifter rapid fire debate!
