'VERY DISAPPOINTING PIECEOF KIT - HAS BEEN RETURNED'
Strengths: Relative portability.i.e.boot of car and folds down well
Weaknesses: Despite following the instruction manual in full, the clamp lever that operates the clamp jaw easily pulls out from the cylindrical metal block through which it passes inside the body of the clamp. This leaves the clamp lever hanging free and disengaged.
Also the opening and closing of the clamp jaw is prone to jamming, especially when clamp adjust knob is screwed inward (screwing the clamp adjust knob in seems to minimise the chance of the clamp lever disengaging)
I don't think the way it functions meets the expectation of such an expensive piece of hardware
Overall: Maybe I just got a duff one but it has been returned. Bought a Wrench Force instead. Wieghs a ton but a solid well built piece of kit
Strengths: Very affordable. Folds. Adjustable Height.
Weaknesses: Two legs vs three = not super stable
Overall: This workstand is portable enough to take on the road, and durable enough for everyday use. It folds compactly and opens quickly. Comes with a tray that offers a safe spot for small parts and tools. Seems to be a little light weight for heavy wenching but will serve my needs quite well. Not for the professional as indicated by the name.
Strengths: Folds down nice and small and well made. The QRs dont need to be done up tight to hold everything in place OK it's vain, but I like the colour! ;O) Jaw is rubber lined, and locks down easily with positive action and fine adjustment so as not to crush delicate alloy tubes
Weaknesses: Clamp can be fiddly to install after unfolding. Not too good on my FSR's square top-tube; the bike wants to turn in the jaws and move away from you as you work, but works well on seatpost instead, so that's just a comment rather than a weakness.
Overall: I can't believe how nice it is to use, and be able to work without breaking my back! After years of working on bikes that are rolling around and falling over all the time, this is pure luxury, and should last forever. Sorry I can only give a 3 for reliability, but I've only had it 2 weeks, so time will tell I guess! Oh, and I only paid £70 at Cycle Surgery for mine....Sorry! ;O)
